Debra Ann Pigliavento

 

Ms. Pigliavento has enjoyed a rewarding career in the professional world of dance and musical theater. Debra received her Bachelor's Degree in Ballet from Indiana University School of Music. Right out of college, she began her performing career with the Lexington Ballet Company, then her passion for the broadway stage took her to New York City. Her Broadway and National tour credits include HELLO DOLLY starring Carol Channing, national and international tours of A CHORUS LINE, and 42ND STREET where she was the Dance Captain of the Broadway company. A most thrilling, memorable moment was the opportunity to tap dance on the stage of Carnegie Hall!

In addition to her performing career, Ms. Pigliavento has directed and choreographed productions of ANNIE, DAMES AT SEA, BRIGADOON, MOST HAPPY FELLA, A CHORUS LINE, ME AND MY GIRL, and THE WORLD GOES ROUND, among others. She had the honor of choreographing for the legendary Ginger Rogers at RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL. Other choreographic credits include industrials for AVON, I LOVE NY, promotional spots for NICKLEODEON TV'S NICK AT NITE, and CBS TV'S AS THE WORLD TURNS.

Her teaching has taken her to Artist-­in­Residence programs throughout the Capital Region. She taught at Steps in NYC, and has also toured extensively as a master class teacher and competition judge. She proudly held the title of Lecturer in Dance with the University of Michigan's Musical Theater Program. She is currently an adjunct faculty member of the Skidmore College Dance Department.
